Fast, Realistic Water Caustics Algorithm?

Does anyone know a good source for a nice water caustics algorithm or (even better) code? It doesn’t have to be 3d-render based. It could just be procedural because it’s for a flat texture. I’d like it to be fast, but some procedural water caustics stuff looks too procedural, it you know what I mean!

Good caustic’s papers are:

  1. “A Fast Rendering Method for Refractive and Reflective
    Caustics Due to Water Surfaces” by Kei Iwasaki, Yoshinori Dobashi and Tomoyuki Nishita;
  2. “Real-Time Caustics” by M. Wand and W. Straßer;
