i have a question, are we allowed to change the movie?

like if we put in the title of the movie in our entry title, and 2 days later i change my mind and want to do another movie, is that okay?

Hi! i have some questions…or more like ramblings about this challenge :stuck_out_tongue:

can you tell me a bit more about the films you put in the list?
in particular the reference to pirates of the caribbean. which sequence
did you have in mind? …also if it involved water or cloth sims to really
complete such shots, how does that impact the subject of ‘collapse’
since it invovles splashes etc… or could that just be an optional
extra if we/ i get time to do it?

which leads me to the last question, is the look of the finished comp supposed
to be photoreal, is that what we will be judged on ultimately?

or just the “wowness” :stuck_out_tongue: of the simulation or animation?

like a gi but lambert version of the collapse, the animated radiohead video clip springs to
mind…

anyway just some of my thoughts

In this challenge the most important thing is the simulation. Therendering and the composite work is secondary and not even needed.

As for POTC the sequence we have in mind is the destruction of the black pearl at the end of the film.

And thanks for the radiohead heads up. I added it to the suggested list.

I want to know how can I take part in the challenge?

Just post an entry in the forum…

Read the rules on the core thread: CgTalk:FXWars! Challenge#15 COLLAPSE
and post your entry in the FXWARS Forum.

And don’t forget the secret handshake.

When is the deadline?

Oops, my bad, just saw it’s June 18th. I was searching for ‘deadline’, not ‘dateline’.
