Extracting UV map

#1

I am able to create and display UV maps of models in modo - typically in atlas format. I can also export the model to an app such as c4d.

I would like to save out the modo UV map to an app such as Photoshop where I could texture it with photoshop tools - then apply the textures to selected model parts of the model in c4d.

My problem is that I don’t know how to save out the modo UV map to an editable file. Anybody know how?

I know there are other routes to my goal - eg making the map in BodyPaint from the model exported from modo. I just have my mind set on doing it as I described. Any help for a loony tune?

Thanks for any ideas.

i dont know modo specifically but most programs you get the uv map fullscreened in your program of choice and then simply take a sceenshot and paste it into photoshop. Then using layers paint over the uv lines and bring bak in.

On the Mac there’s something called UV Mapper [http://www.uvmapper.com]. OBJ files from modo with a UV map are read in fine and you can save the UV map as a tiff or pdf [great as you can scale it up to whatever you want in photoshop].

For the PC there’s UV Mapper Pro.
