Exporting to wings

#1

Hi guys,

I am trying to model with AM and Wings ie importing and exporting between both apps. I export models in the .obj
format from both apps. I have no problems going from Wings
to AM via this route.Going from AM to wings seems to export each patch as an individual “tile” which give wiered results with tools such as tighten and smooth in Wings.

Can someone please tell me how to get around this.

sonofpat,

I had this problem when I was using AM I tracked it down to a few problems.

  1. since wings is a volume modeler you can not have any holes in the AM mesh.

  2. 5pointers and hooks will not export right with the current OBJ exporter and will make holes in the mesh so those are a no no
so you should use 3pointers even if the model does not look right in AM.

3 getting the model back into AM and having it look right will be hard, if you use ngons in wings and if you have more then 2 splines going through 1 control point in wings it wont work to well in AM.

Good luck
dave
