I know in ZBrush you can export a sculpt level all on its own… can this be done in mudbox 09?

Sorry my question was much too vague… I don’t want to export a selection level of the model itself, but rather export some sculpting detail to a bump texture of its own. So take a specific scultping layer, and export to texture, and I want to do this without getting the bump detail from the base mesh below. So say I just want a texture with skin wrinkle detail which I can then layer on top of my bump texture in post and tweak to my hearts content.
One way I’ve thought of doing this is by creating a bump paint layer and painting on the detail and then exporting the map rather than sculpting… gonna give that a shot but I’d rather be sculpting.
