evaluating modo 203

#1

I dropped Modo a while back for the symmetry problems and I have since been a happy Silo user. Now I am back to evaluate Modo 203, since I still like Modo for the fact that it does have texture painting and rendering. I have noticed so far, that Symmetry has improved quite a bit. That’s a good start.
But I am still having some problems (it may be my fault, since I am now more used to Silo):

  1. I start with the pen tool one one side (e.g. modeling human eye area) and continue with edge extrusions. Then I select the points near the Y-axis to set them to zero on X using the set position command. Very often (not allways) the points will not end up on X = 0, instead their are offset to the side. When this happens it is impossible to establish symmetry with mirrored geometry, even trying to manualy position the points on the axis.

  2. the bridge tool doesn’t seem to mirror on both sides of the model when in Symmetry mode. Is that correct ?

can someone confirm these problems ? thanks !

I just tried the bridge tool while in symmetry mode and it worked it, though I was only using three boxes and bridging the two outer ones to the center box.

I will try the other issue soon and report back.

Luxology did mention somewhere that athough symmetry has been improved, there are still cases where we can break it…maybe this is one of them.
