Errror creating ParticleView

I get the message “Errror creating ParticleView” whenever I try to access particle view. It willn’t display. Has anyone seen this? Max2008 runs fine in every other way. Trashing all the preference files does nothing. It’s on a 64bit Vista quad system with a GTX8800 card. My system is now useless! Gerr…

I have seen this only once, and it was fixed when I closed and reopened max. Have you installed or ran any scripts that may interfere with it?
