Im currently looking for a few good beginner books on 2d/3d engine design. If these books used C++ or java that would be a plus. Any thoughts?
Engine Design: Beginner Books
Check out some of the books in the GameDev.net Book Section. Here is a link there.
3D Game Engine Design by David Eberly is a great book on engine design. However, to some the math in the book is a bit heavy and hard to understand and its a bit outdated. A new book on engine design is 3D Game Engine Architecture written, again, by David Eberly. It was published in December of 2004 so there aren’t many reviews out on the book, not even a picture of it on amazon. I’ve ordered a copy of it and I’ll let you know how it is.
Math shouldnt be a problem. I’m a third year computer science student. I’ve done all the essentials, linear algebra, discrete, tonnes of calculus, physics.
