emPolygonizer version 1.5 released

#1

Hi everybody!

I am happy to announce the release of emPolygonizer 1.5 for Softimage|XSI.
The more or less "official" thread can be found [here](http://www.si-community.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=123&start=90), but here are nevertheless a few appetizers:

There is a demo version available for Windows and Linux, as well as the documentation and example and tutorial scenes, all of them can be downloaded here.

have fun!

Looks pretty cool…

So, am I correct in assuming this is a new way to skin particles to look like liquid?

#3

@ adrencg :

yes, skinning particles is one of the things the plug-in is good for.
But this new version can do a lot more as it can deal with the following objects and components as inputs:
[ul]
[li]nulls[/li][li]curves and curve lists (points, knots or curve)[/li][li]polygon meshes (points or polygons, parameters can be driven by weight maps and vertex color maps)[/li][li]point clouds (points and strands, parameters can be driven by point size and point color)[/li][/ul]The ability to use i.e. curves and polygons as inputs makes emPolygonizer also a nice modelling tool. I tried to make some example scenes that demonstrate that.

cheers!
Eric

Awesome Stuff, as always! Tnx Eric

this looks really cool, can’t wait to play around with it in a couple of weeks when I get some free time

PS: already looks better than maya’s implementation of mesh fluids :stuck_out_tongue:

#6

Cheers Eric, the new update is looking sweet!

Looking forward to giving this a try when I get back tonight. (I may also have a request for you. )

Also; have you considered putting this in the CGTalk news section? A lot more people seem to go into the news section and putting it there might put it under the nose of non-SI users who never come to the SI section.

#7

@ all : Thanks for the feedback

@ jasonio : sure, requests are always welcome, go ahead!

… putting it in the “CGTalk news section” might put it under the nose of non-SI users who never come to the SI section.

As the plug-in is only available for SI I thought I’d put it here, but you’re right. Is it possible to move this thread to the “news” section or must a start a new thread?

#8

wow, wow, wow.

Just tried this thing. Its awesome. I used cloth to simulate liquid. I’ll be buying a copy.

#9

Hi,

I just added a new emPolygonizer example animation.

It’s a really simple setup: a dozen particles with strands and half a torus… here a screenshot:

Here’s the link to watch the anims: emPolygonizer - Strands (example 6)

Cheers!
Eric

PS: The scene used to capture and render the anims is included in the demo scenes.
