elements or objects?

Hi,

I’ve wondering the best way to do something - goal being very easy/clear topology and UVs. I’m using Max 2017

1 - See screenshots. I’ve got a main object and 4 supporting objects that intersect - what is the best way to remove the geometry that is hidden on the inside? I know I can use the subtraction boolean but that leaves a big mess of odd verts and triangles. Is there a way to do this super cleanly? Is there a way to imprint the intersection lines then I could maybe cut it out?

Any suggestions and advice will be appreciated!

The Merge function in Pro Boolean combines objects into a single object without removing any geometry. New edges are created where the objects intersect. This may be useful. For more information on Pro Boolean, check out the Knowledge database…
