Edit existing object mesh - how to add something new?

#1

Hello everybody,
I am a newbie in Maya and I kindly need your help. I am getting mad to accomplish this “simple” task. I found a nice squirrel 3D model on the web… it’s free and you can download it on the following link (too large to be attached to this post).

What I want to do is just create a couple of eyes for this creature like 2 simple spheres… nothing more. The problem is that I don’t manage to attach anything to the already existing mesh. Indeed, after creating the spheres (eyes) I would like to attach them to the rest of the body… nothing more… and use the already existing controls without modifying anything. I just want to modify the mesh but I don’t manage to do it… may you kindly help me? Thanks in advance!

Regards,

Enrico

I think you might post your question in Maya Character Setup sub-forum. This forum is about Maya Dynamics.

As for your question, before editing rigged character you might need to do some Maya Basic Rigging tutorial first.
