Edge Bevel Crash and other problems

#1

Anybody have these problems or am I doing something wrong? I am a fairly new user and may be missing some things.

Start with a box primitive. Create a curve in a background layer. Extrude one of the box’s faces along the curve with default settings. Start at one corner of the box and select the edges of the new extrusion, running the length of the extrusion. Try to edge bevel that continuous edge. Modo crashes violently. Happens every time.

Also, when exporting one of the new models provided by Luxology to Maya (full man, mouse, headphones, etc.), Maya doesn’t read the file properly. Any ideas why? Is it a weight map problem or something?

And one more thing, when exporting a mesh to Maya and then converting to subDs in maya, maya will add ngons. Why does this happen?

Mac OSX 10.3.7

Thanks in advance!

I’ve just tested your edge bevel problem on OSX 10.3.7 and I do not see a crash. This is in both modo 101 and modo 102 (coming soon!). MAybe I am missing a step? Can you send the model to us directly so that we can test it here to make sure?

Thanks

Did it here on a Windows machine and worked well,
no crash. Actually the bevel tool worked really very
nice with a good result.

Thanks Brad, I will send the file. I tested it again today to make sure I wasn’t going crazy and had yet another crash.

Also, when creating a curve via CV’s in an orthangonal viewport such as front, why do the cvs skew along the z axis? This is annoying as I must always set position to get the cvs to line up.

Thanks again!

If I understand the CV query correctly I think this is a bug that has been addressed in 102. Coming soon! I promise.
