This is a personal illustration and still a wip. Echo is a druid whose the only friend is her wolf, Noch. My intention was to make they both enjoying themselves 
I’m trying to stop doing that “portrait with some degrade intead of a background” style of painting. I’m still going to add some new elements in the background. Any critque to this painting would be appreciated

The little slivers of rim light you have can be pushed more to give this entire scene a beautiful glow. Make it a sunset and a back-lit scene so that there will be a lovely golden glow as rim light on everything.
The wolf doesn’t look much like a wolf–more like a dog. You need to make it more obviously a wolf.
Her right hand looks odd angled that way. Try having her fingers face forward instead.
The composition doesn’t flow too well. Maybe try having the girl and wolf placed near the top/right quadrant, while the river and boats at the bottom/left quadrant.
