early 19th century london matte WIP

#41

May be I will give it another week  I probably can’t ask myself to spend any longer on this painting after this. Then I will probably dip into from time to time after I learn some new technique to improve the painting.

Update WIP7:

was quite busy today, but I squeeze in some time to try to fix the pavement and the ground. see what you think, there still seems to be something wrong with the bricks, don’t know why.

This is about the final (flipped) version: I think I know what is wrong with the road. If you look at the bricks on the road and compare the left side of the road to the right side, you’ll see it. The bricks seem to be getting bigger the further you get to the right side. In other words, there’s sideways perspective going on.

The other thing would be that the pavements are too highly elevated from the road surface. It looks like they’re something like 25-30 centimeters high. And given the same scale your lampposts are too thick too.

I was surprised on how well this worked reversed. It’s almost better than the other way around.

Keep pushing, it’s worth it!
