its really clean modeling, keep up the great work mate !

Chris: Hey man! I worked on her size. Now she is bigger. Also I shorten up the tail a bit. I’m posting an image
for critics and comments. Thanks for your comments

Nitin: I never realized the eye was smaller in the 3D version. Thanks for pointing me that out.
The reason why I wanted to model the hand is because I’m still more used to model first and then
bring to ZBrush for details. I’m still in the progress of learning ZBrush. Thanks for your comments pal

Ravis: I still hesitate. I find both proportions appealing. But it’s true I’ll have a harder time trying to show
her if she is smaller. Unless I find a way. Right now my polycount is 28.814 Tri for everything.
After ZBrush I’ll be making a low poly version using Polyboost.

Gerardo: Thanks man! I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks a lot

ShamesArt: Thanks man!

Hopefully, next update will be with ZBrush. Here I post an update, Let me know if you think the proportions are ok.
Thanks!

Cheers,

James

I was supposed to update at least once before starting ZBrush. But I must admit I feel kind of lost right now. It’s mostly the posing that bothers me since I cannot figure out how to pose the model so I can show the most of it (specially the woman). Either I lose the woman of sight, or I don’t show the scorpion enough, so basically I cannot find the right spot for it at the moment. So I’ve been thinking (if I’m allowed) to change for a demon princess. Keeping some of the idea intact. I don’t know yet. At this point comments and ideas are the most welcomed. Cheers,

James

if you are just planning to put it into a different category then its fine, you have time till final submission… but if you are planning to change the design then i personally think its not a good idea since i liked the original concept a lot… about the pose, for the final image you could show her in a fighting pose where she bends closer to the scorpion part and stabbing the prey with some weapon while those huge scorpion claws is holding it… or you could even do it where is attacking two preys at the same time from different direction and so she has to twist in a dynamic way, i think you could figure out a perfect pose along the way… shouldn’t be a problem, atleast thats what i think… Hope you find a solution

#65

or even a top 3/4th view will cover everything… keeping the face closer to the camera and may be screaming at the camera :stuck_out_tongue: and below scorpion part is holding on to the prey… just my thought

#66

Great idea! I love that scorpion shape.

Look foreward to see more of that deadly beauty

#67

Hey James! I think the latest image you posted the proportions are perfect! As for the pose, I agree with namnocilis, I really like your character as is and believe there are plenty of interesting poses you could go with because of the way your character is built. Hope to see the start in ZBrush soon! Keep us posted!

#68

It looks great.
Hurry up!! We want more!!^^

#69

Namnocilis: Thanks man! Your ideas are really cool. I’ll work on it more

Locusta: Thanks for the comments. And by the way, your work is very inspiring

Chris: Hey Chris, hi. Thanks for your support man. Hopefully I’ll start with ZBrush soon.

Irvin: I’ll hurry up lol.

Thanks everyone. I’ll post as soon as I can.

Cheers

i like your base mesh man, looks sooo fun to zbrush, you better give her a spanking in there man

#71

I’m not dead yet :stuck_out_tongue:
Sorry, it been a while since the last time I updated. So basically, I went for a demon princess, not being happy with the overall result of the other mesh.
I’m not done yet with the modelling, but it should be over either tomorrow or after tomorrow.
The things I have to do is finish the armor and the belts that keep it in place, also the chains, the weapon, and a few other things.

Thanks Mikhail but sadly I wont be finishing the other character. Not for the DW anyway. But perhaps later.

Cheers,

James

Wait a sec… no more scorpion? It was a very cool concept… are you sure you won’t be able to close it in time? maybe give it a shot, it was quite epic!
cheers

I agree you should finish your original concept. I am sure it would be in the top ten.

#74

Same here, I suggest the original concept.

good luck buddy

#75

I gotta agree with the previous comments…it seems a shame to scale back what ya had originally planned…what is the overall concern tho’?..texturing, detail pass, rigging/weighting?..if it’s a specific thing maybe you could post for suggestions to still continue your original design…but if ya go with this, then it’s still looks solid and I am sure you will pull something out of the bag!..

Good luck!

#76

The scorpion concept kick-ass, you should try doing. Good luck man.

#77

Hey James!

I have to agree with everyone! Stick with the woman/scorpion! I am also curious as to why exactly you’re switching? I know you’ve been back and forth since the beginning with the design, but I really think you were getting there in these last few updates! (It’s all part of the design process! ;))

Not that this new character is not nice. It just feels much more generic…I really like the original concept because if was something really different and out of the ordinary! And I think that’s what made it stand out. You saw it and you were like: “Whoa! Awesome.” And I think that’s what you want at the end of the day!

But, it’s your decision and we’ll support you either way!

Thanks guys for your support!
As for the reasons I’m switching, it is mostly due to the fact that I didn’t feel comfortable working with the model. It a few words, I was lacking enough ideas to complete it. Also The posing was giving me troubles. Although a few of you gave me great ideas, but when it came to put them in practise, it didn’t work. Since originally I wanted to make a Demon Princess, I went for this idea rather than continue with something I knew I wasn’t gonna be able to finish. I agree it was a good idea, I like it a lot, but it’s gonna be impossible for me to finish it now. Also since I need to finish (and polish) a new demo-reel, I prefer showing something that I feel it looks better. Or at least, something I know I can say it’s looks the way I wanted.
Thanks again everyone, I’ll post more updates of the demon princess as soon as I can.

Cheers,

James

James i foresee a GREAT pose with the character…i think you should keep up the pace. And posing really shouldnt be a problem with zbrush lol. Come on now! Rigging is overated!

BTW I love a nice set of boobies. Pixelicious.

Great design, body on the tail seems like something i haven’t seen before. Excited to see some more updates on this.
