DWIV - 3D - Hexahedron - Ereshkigal Demon Queen of Darkness

#21

Finally started modelling. I began modelling the hands, then the rest of the body. and just started modelling the armor. For the armor I thought would be cool to have a sort of magic talisman/artifact shaped as a human head which would represent the queen’s face before she was sent to hell. The eyes of this statue are two obsidian stones which take the souls of her enemies. For her body I went with exaggerated shapes specially with the length of her body.
The next few days I’ll try to finish the low poly armor, and then continue with the scorpion body.
Cheers

kinda disturbing  - not quite sure about the way those arms at the bottom are attatched - they need the structure to support them and it looks like the hip bones are not it, since they’re lower down…

#23

I agree with Magdalena, you have to find a bone structure to stick those in! nothing says tht they couldn’t fit in the femur sockets

#24

Thanks for the comments Intervain and Stefano. I’ll find a solution for it.

Cheers.

#25

the 3D looks great.

Hey James!

Glad to see you joined! I love your concept, nice sketch, really awesome stuff! And the start of the modeling is great also, although I have to agree about the lower set of arms… Anyway, I’m really looking forward to following this! Best of luck! And keep us updated!

#27

Thanks Chris! Nice to see you here.
Concerning the lower arms. I already started fixing it since it’s truth, they were too high to be attached to any bone. I’ll try to post a new update as soon as I can since I would like to work more on the armor.

Thanks again everyone for the critics and advice. They are really helpful.

Cheers,

James

Awesome concept and great start on the modeling. I do agree with Intervain and StefanoDubay about the attatchment of the bottom arms. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to see more.

#29

Thanks Stutts for the comments. Actually I tried fixing the arms. Lowered them down until it made much more sense but I didn’t like the result. Also the length of the body started bothering me since it didn’t look the way I thought it would. So I replaced the wings like claws in the back of the character with the arms. That way, I hope, it makes more sense. Also I’m much more happy with the overall look.
Also I’ve already started modeling the base mesh for the armor.
Critics and comments are more than welcome right now.
Cheers

Model is looking awesome. I’ve been watching your concept for a while and I am impressed. Keep it up.

#31

It look great.
Without her “pet”, she looks a little like a Naga (an half dead one :D).

#32

Lol Irvin. Yes she does look like a Naga.

Still working on the tail, and then I’ll start building the scorpion body. Hopefully I’ll be posting some more updates soon.

Cheers.

#33

very nice… this kind of woman demon animal combining seems to be a trend of somekind…
only thing is that you got it working relly well… i really like this one… its very epic.

#34

Why are you leaving your original concept? Especially with the placement of the second set of arms? Its looking good, but I think your concept’s proportions look nicer for the composition.

#35

Ravis3057, thanks for your comments. Do you mean the length of the body looks better in the concept? Right now I’m not so sure, now that I’m working the concept on 3D I step on a couple of problems so the way I solved them was to bring the second pair of arms closer to the upper arms. I wasn’t so sure of the way it looked with the lowers arms before.
But if you have any suggestions, they are more than welcome right now. Thanks again for your input.

I think I like the lower arms because the have shoulders and still have that forward facing alignment just like in your other arms. All of the scorpions limbs are of the same orintation, so why not replicate that in your character? I also think I like the angles and hard edges you have in your concept. Like the ones in your hands and on the helmet. Finally, her butt seems a bit flat and in your concept it is round almost like an ant’s butt. Hope this is a little more clear, I look forward to seeing more from you.

#37

i think for this character, the lower arms looked much better when it was positioned just like in the initial concept… and instead of pushing the lower arms up and closer to the upper arm i think you should find a structure to support it in that lower position itself, something like imagine if there was an extra clavicle there and that way you could change the shape of that lower area where the arms connect… i think its because the area where it first connected looked thin and then it also ended in human hip fashion with 2 legs so it was feeling like there is nothing to support those arms… but in those second 3d version the hip looked different because of that armour and all

personally, i think it is killing the original concept by placing the lower arms up and very close to the upper arm… usually thats the way but for this character especially i liked it just the way it was in the initial concept sketch…

#38

on the second thought to avoid all confusion… those lower arms could be exo skeletons and would solve most problems

#39

Ravis3057: Thanks for the input, I really appreciate it. I’ll continue working on the lower arms. This time following the concept. I’ll make a few adjustments so it looks better than the last time I posted it. Also I’ll follow your advice concerning the butt. Looked too human. And you are right, in the original concept I intended it to be more insect-like. It’s mostly the anatomy concerning where to properly connect the arms to the body that was bugging these days.

Namnocilis: Thanks pal. I’ll bring back the concept to the original state. I was feeling I was kinda going out of what I had previously on my mind.

Thanks again guys, your input helps me a lot.

I’ll post an update as soon as I finish fixing all those details.

Cheers,

James
