Fantastic looking character Francisco. I like that it is one of the more original and interesting characters on the forum right now. Amazing that you have the talent and speed with Zbrush to “sketch and doodle” within the program. What program do you start your “Clean Model” in?

tsalvageboy - THanks a lot for the very nice comment man, I am glad you like the character, I did try to go with something original, but it is hard to make something totally unique, I usually use 3dsmax for building quick base meshes.
Yin-Shiuan - hey man thanks…I am trying to keep on schedule to be able to finish the character, hopefully it will work out.
GregStrangis - hey man… right now is pretty high, but for the base mesh I am just looking for siluohette and even quads on the mesh, just so I can go and zbrush the detail nicely without any pinching. This base mesh will help me later on build a optimized low poly thats within the 10.000 tri limit.

max base mesh done. I will be starting the zbrush sculpt soon. In the mean time here a some warm up sketches to loosen up…

Man your skills are impressive. I’m taking too long thinking up ideas and heres you just playing around with digital sketches to warm up. Ha I love it, very inspiring. And awesome to se hidden details start to emerge. :applause:
I’m really digging this guy. Although the human-like hand is looking kind of left behind compared to the rest of the figure at this point.

Ferx - hey man, thanks i was actually trying to push assymetry as much as I could… cool that you noticed…the only issue is uvw space, i will have to plan that out for assymetry to work.
capncookie - thanks for the comment, yeah I did not sketch out the hand but in the final sculpt his hand will be more like the drawing… they will be like rocky claws if that makes sense.
Xidon - Thanks for the awesome comment man!..I would like to have more time too, to “cook ideas” for a longer time and draw out and plan the concept more but the thing is time, I want to have enough time for all the texturing, low poly modeling and presentation stuff at the end. Thanks again for the comments man, and like I said before your work on the alien vs predator stuff is top notch, congrats.
and the idea to make his body resemble a face. Though I bet, he has got some serious problems in scratching his head

DeadInTheAttic - his body is going to be different from his head… same skin treatment but diferent look if that makes sense…thanks for the comment.
more zbrush stuff… still more changes to come to the body…the mouth, the armor and the stone spike are more or less going to look like that, they will change a bit…

Hey Francisco! That color test really pops him already! What happened to the mouth on his stomach? Anatomy is looking pretty good, careful tho, his biceps might be a little short. This guy is going to look sick when he is done!
Its coming along well. Nice sculpting. I too miss the mouth on his belt, it was a nice touch.
What worries me though is that he’s looking quite stiff. Maybe you can fix that when you pose him though. Just try to be aware of that. Can’t wait to se an update.
MartinNielsen-thanks man, i am trying to push assymetry but I have to start thinking about uvw space… i want to take advantage of that too…
NiklasElling- thanks a lot man, the mouth in the belly is coming! i left the empty space there for that…also he has some kind of bone armor plates in his pelvis area… those are coming too… and the stiffness i hope to get rid of some of that when i pose him at the end… I find it easier to model him in a relaxed pose and then push him in the a cool pose at the end…
GregStrangis-thanks for pointing out the bicep size Greg… I will address that for sure, also like i said the mouth is coming i just have to think about the look of the mouth to sculpt it in. Thanks for the comment man… and also good luck with your character… i would stick with the worm looking guy I think if you finish him all the way he can look pretty awesome.

the skirt and the belts…also the armor piece… still missing the mouth in the stomach and other elements but i am trying to get all the pieces in for a least 1 pass of zbrush and then I will go into a detailing pass…

Ferx - thanks a lot, I will try and update soon I have not had a chance to sit and work on him for a bit, but i will soon. I need to start wrapping up the zbrushing at the end of next week. Keep up the good work in your entry too…
jett12 - thanks a lot man, I like zbrush, it is really open to exploring different designs and is just a very nice tool to do 3d stuff in. I like the traditional max and maya too but I think when you add zbrush you get that lively painterly and sculpted feeling into the 3d. Good luck with your entry…
Very nice character, i like the idea. I prefer the right side of it, especially for the armor.
