ORIGINAL POST

Demon Prince_ HAURES. Grand prince of hell.

I have decided to go with the Demon Prince character (fire, lava). I have been doing sketches since sunday and this is the direction I am going in.
As far as the concept goes, I will use it as a general guide to go by, but some stuff might change sligthy in 3d, I am hoping it translates well from concept to render mesh. Also the colors are a first general pass, they will change to better suit the 3d model.
When I get some updates I will upload them.
This my first DW (I did the mini challenge as well) and what I have seen so far in this forum and the other ones is impresive to say the least. There is a lot of talent and it is cool to be part of the whole competition. Good luck to everyone.

Sweet concept dude, looking forward to those updates!

#3

Very nice, its exciting to see so many awesome ideas like this, I just can’t wait to see this in 3D :buttrock:

#4

Hey Francisco,

Really cool concept and design  Like a lot his left arm, really cool touch on your concept! Looking forward for more updates! Cheers!

#5

nice concept! I’ll follow this one:applause:

pr0wler - thanks! I will try and update saturday and sunday as well. I will try and post some more updates… maybe some of the drawings i did during the week.

Ferx - Thanks man, I was trying to go for organic shapes and hard edges… I want some of his skin to be like old stone… and the “worm arm” to be leathery and more glossy. I like your DW direction… stylized concepts are cool and fun to do.

Xidon - THanks dude… I hope the 2d translates well into 3d… Nice work on the alien playing pool pic in your portfolio… crazy details…wicked lighting too

GregStrangis - thanks, nice direction with your DW entry. You are doing a demon prince as well !.. I like the head drawings you have… some cool looking stuff… I like the multiple eyes and the skin treatment.

#7

Here are some of the sketches I have of the specific parts of the body… just to serve as a rough guide… just looking for the big shapes… the details will come later in the model and texturing…
I will post some more during the weekend.

nice concept , keep it up

Did a quick and dirty zb mesh to get a feel for the proportions and see how everything is going to work. I will continue to tweak this guy for while… next step bring it into max and create clean base mesh with a good siluete and poly distribution to start the real detailed sculpt.

Looks great for a start, do you like building new topo in max over Zbrush?? Excited to see some details on the new mesh =). Btw thanks for the compliment on my guy, I decided to do a demon Lord and rework my entire concept, but I am sticking with the head that I originally drew with multiple eyes and such

#11

GregStrangis - Hey dude thanks… good luck with your character… like i said before I like the multiple eye idea for the head!.. as far as workflow goes… I like using zbrush retopology but for the contest because we are under a time limit I rather go with max. I feel I am a bit faster with max when I comes to generating clean simple geo. Also I have planned out how I am going to split him up in several pieces so I can bring those into zbrush and get them to a high enough subdiv to get all the details in… hopefully it all comes together in the end !!..

I did the legs… and added the belts and the shoulder bone spike… All just for placement and again to preview the whole look of the guy.

crazy idea, I’m enjoying the process, gonna keep an eye out on this!!

keep it up… i want more!!

#13

the concept sketch is awesome… the quick zbrush doodle is also coming along… great!
In the concept art i can see some kind of teeth on the torso… seems like a good idea, are those really teeth? didn’t see the indication of it in the 3d doodle though… eager to see the progress

#14

PeterBraeley - thanks man, I will try and update today… just doing some basemesh work in max for now.

namnocilis - thanks a lot, yeah those are teeth in his belly, i left opening there in zbrush sketch to later add it on in the full detail pass. Rigth now i am just laying down a clean base mesh to work with… good luck with your dw4 entry!

#15

Hello

I like the concept and your so-called “basemesh” is just stunning! Can’t wait to see more details on it. I especially love the “roughness” of your sketches, would be pretty cool if you could transfer this onto the model. Keep on going.

so long

#16

Cool concept. I like the creature’s shape and the proportions… good start!

#17

Looking so nice! Can’t wait to see more

#18

DarkBlueArt - thanks a lot… I hope that the general idea and look of my sketches translates to the 3d model… it is always tough to balance out what works on 2d and 3d…but hopefully I will find a good blend between both… good luck in your DW4 entry as well !

Maxter - thanks man… looking forward to your DW4 entry… good luck !

Hexahedron - thanks man… i will try to keep updating… cool looking DW4 entry as well… keep it up.

It is cool to see a lot talented artist working hard on their characters…

Quick update on the clean mesh for zbrushing…
