DWIV - 2D - NavigatorJones - Abomination

#21

Hey navigator… or can I say Katie? I find it confusing calling you navigator… anyway lol.

You’ve taken a cool approach regarding your demon! I like the idea behind the leg, though I think you need to give him a skeleton of some sort. What I mean by that is that the way I see him, he seems soft and squishy, like an octopus. Giving him a structure would make him much more solid I think.
Other than that… cool concept!

#22

Interesting design  I agree with DefiledVisions, that the character seems very vulnerable.

#23

Martin/Defiled: Ah yes! He is meant to be vulnerable…in SPOTS(middle/leg) However! I do need him to have a fair amount of upper body strength (shoulders/back/chest), so yes any suggestions how I could make that more obvious would be great! Though I’m not sure I fully understand the what you mean by structure, Defiled, could you elaborate a little?

#24

Ah well what I was meaning is that his muscles and his structure doesn’t seem to be built upon a skeleton. It looks like doesn’t have anything under his skin that holds his body up and thus making look squishy and soft.
There’s not much you need to do to give him a more solid look, make the hips more symetrical, have the left hip on the same level as the right. Also the crossing between the dark leg and the light body could be made more subtle.
Waiting for more concepts!

#25

Ah I see what you mean now. His braced leg is shorter than the other, which is why his hips are lopsided, though you probably can’t see it all that well becaues I made him fleshy and loose around there. I could probably define the hips more, but the asymetrical look was always a continuation of his deformity, so I don’t really want to get rid of it  He’s not the kind of abomination you’d find on the frontline of battle, he’s a civilian killer, so he doesn’t have to be super sturdy and strong. But thanks for pointing it out, I’ll work on making the hips more obvious

oops double post

#27

LOL what is this squiggly mess, you say? This is what happens when I attempt to ‘sketch’. It’s true, my ‘sketches’ usually end up too clean, it was miracle I left this one as is :stuck_out_tongue:
People who can sketch up those silhouettes leave me in awe.
Anyway, this is a quick look at how I want the composition to be. Though he’ll be bigger in the official one, but I’m too tired to go back and fix that :stuck_out_tongue:

Also new torso design. I like this much more.

#28

some original idea here, I wish you best luck mate

#29

Hi Evil Katie lol! Thanks for comments on my Dark Prince. Always good to have feedbacks on my work! I really like your creatures of skinless twisted abomination and if you have the time you should to a sketch of Dominator sucking the face off a puny human. :wip:

Cant wait for your next update.

#30

Np problem Lucifer xD! And you inspired me to do some quick sketches  Also, changed one of his hands  (to the normal gloved type)

#31

Hey Katie,

Really great updates and sketches!! cool concept!! Like the serpent style creature from the head, really cool touch for the character! Waiting for more updates! Cheers!!

#32

Hello Katie ! First thank you for your comment on my thread  And second , I like your creature design but if I can suggest something…I would say that the first image (square #1) is your best character pose !

Good luck!

#33

hey man, great going, you’ve got one hell of a weirdo. :buttrock:
From my very limited experience, its been a huge help to do some fast anatomy studies, I DL images from the web and them paint over them, animals that look similar to what you what your character to look like and then you start to fusion and everything comes out more soled. Dale duro amigo (go for it friend) great work!

#34

Thanks for the comment like the way your is coming along. Can not wait to see your finish products…

#35

AHh! I return (thanks for the comments btw guys XD!) With Modelling sheet! (guh finally!) Who would have thought it would be so hard to do?? O_o?!
Dun dun DUN…

#36

running out of time! XD! Starting final. I’m going to have to draw most things seperately and compostite them together in PS because A4 paper is too small to work with lol xD!

#37

Composition (finally) so much fun doing the minions XD! Haven’t put on his leg braces yet, but don’t worry I will :stuck_out_tongue:

blocking it out

#38

Starting colour! woo…

#39

I like your head … the head of your character, of course

Hmm. Just take another look at the proportions. They body seems somehow to be to small.
And according to your head, you need not to stuck to human proportions. I’d keep this head and add relatively long extremeties, making him slim and long. And this thing around his leg is a bit distorting, I think.
And I like your colours, the brownish-greyish look. Just use the colours of the head at other bodyparts also, that way it might fit better into your whole concept. Perhaps a brown head and brownish feet, lower arms or stuff like that.

hey guys, I’ve been having issues doing this, it just didn’t feel right, so I’m going back over the compostition
