Finally the war is over. This has been the first contest i ever got in. I have learned so much in so many different levels, that i am glad i decided to join. In the process , my computer broke down, i builded a new one , my job send me to chicago in the middle of the contest , and the last day i did not sleep for 29 hrs trying to finish the piece. It was all worth it, but i wish i had more time to finish really what i had invision and polish the piece. The last minutes were very frustraiting, becuase i could not post my painting not only because the website crashed but because of the size of it. So i had to downgrade it to 600x1000 i think.
The icon was another mission which in the end came out like crap. All of these roadblocks will help me in the next one hopefuly!.So here it is, please bring any commnets and critiques …i will greatly appreciated it. thank you

Cool sketches, i like that single face in the middle it has some personality. Looks evil, though not mindless evil, like evil for a reason. :slight_smile: Lets see some concepts man, let loose and use your creativity. Poses you can do later when you character is done and you’re ready for the final image, what if you end up doing a demon lord with four legs ;). I’d be happy to give some crits, but I’ll wait until you’ve done some concepts. Keep it up!

Thanks for your comment and advise , am already working on the concept. Will post what i have soon , most of times i like to take my time to polish the concept , and thats why i take so long. And yes i will really apreciate if you can critique my concepts and tear them apart. By the way your concept is starting to look really good, very organic and original. Love the way you painted the values keep workingon on it , you got one sweet concept…niko

Hi , welll i finally decided to go with a demon princess. Her soul is very old and has many centuries of experience. She is like a soul collector and and a very picky one indeed. The princess collect the ones that give her challenge and blooody souvenirs. When she gets very mad the princess will expose her true face , in which i like to call " the inner beauty". Her path of destruction is accompanied by her trusty tiny pet name sithyr opus. Her weapons concist of a sword that cuts through almost anything, her pet, and the Fusion burning glove. The glove burns its enemies and fuse them into the glove. Sometimes you may even catch a glance of the enemies body parts and faces screaming in pain, fuse into the glove.

So far , i have the basic concept sheet (in progress). Her pet and her final sword design is not here yet. I have done 2 different heads , and (one without hair), and 2 diferent gloves. I am leaning more to the princess head, and the inner beauty with hair, what do you guys think?? Also i think the Fusion burning glove is better. At the moment i am working on the pose that i think will work for the final painting, which is very similar to this one (only is a bit more dynamic). I do have more poses that i’ll be posting when am finish.

Hey man, some nice penciled stuff you’ve got, looks like you enjoy drawing comicbook like stuff aswell (me too!)? You and me are one of the fews that still do alot in pencil, it’s a shame actually! Pencil art rules! :smiley:

Some feedback:
Like the other guy said, I too think you should go much broader in terms of ideas at first, don’t fall in love with 1 certain sketch yet in this stage. The demonprincess as you drew it is quite standard, and can be pushed much further. What about making her really fat, or really old, or both, or making her half whale,half bird, half tree, half transparent, etc. etc. Try to think outside of the box.

Usualy the first 10 to 20 ideas that you’ll get for a characterdesign is stuff you’ve seen somewhere else from movies, tv or whatnot, only after you get those out of your system more original ideas will start to come out. Just my 2 cents. Try to push yourself, find that one fresh idea, and roll with it…you defenitely have the drawingskillz, now do them justice with an idea for a demonprincess that no one has ever seen before! Go go go go! :smiley:

Rhemrev- thanks for the kind words man and great advice. Yes i enjoy working with pencil becuase i think it just cames out more natural to me, the same happenes to me with charcoal for that matter. There was a time i would only sketch on photoshop , but i decided to came back to the light. I was thinking of using the second head which i call “the inner beauty with hair”. That will make her a Demon alien Princess, and also will came with some more modifications. I think you are totally right about doing all the sketches you can to get all the tv and stuff out of your system. I will try to squeeze some time to work on it. In my schedule i am behind so i’ll try all i can. Thanks again

Cool, I like how her true face isn’t beautiful, will you show that in the final peice? Also, how did you get that nice textured background? Painted or no?

latest news!!

Hi guys , its been a long time since i comment in here. You know when you do not have enough time and you really try hard to hurry up to make up for it , but obviously something has to happen to really slow you down. Well, that thing was my computer. For some reason “it” decided to die on me 2 weeks ago. It , showed signs 1 week before when i was trying to paint and it took 1 minute for each stroke to show. I tought that a simple hd scan will fix it but it made it worst. So i am here in my friends house using his computer to writte this. I am also waitting for my computer parts to arrive, so i can start building the i7 cpu monster i got.

NavigatorJones – I am glad that you like her true face, and yes it will be the final face, but if i have time i will do 2 versions of it. The texture is just paper texture… thanks for looking mate.

I was able to get some files that i save in my external hd. This is just a backgroung test , it shows some smoke from battle and her little friend behind the smoke, with some dude dying on the side. Very sketchy yes ( i hate to show unpolish stuff)

Hi people!! Am sorry i took so long to post but i was with no computer, but that change this weekend when i finally got my parts and build a i7 monster with 6 gigs of memory. Its been 3 weeks with no computer and a lot of work, so i will be trying to do my best to finish everything. I will aim my focus on the final piece , and show some sketches of different poses as i go along with the process of the painting.
this is the first one and as usual any comments will be very welcome, thank you and good luck to all!!

Here is a quick sketch for the color study and some figures that might make it to the final. I am basically trying to make a good composition that will work best for what i want to accomplish. Any comments are welcome!.

Hi people , my job send me to chicago for a week and 3 days. So i was about to stop working on my entry because there were many things i wanted to change and i don’t like to post something unfinish. But, i will try to finish everything by tomorrow. This update is the one i had when i left to chicago( which is the one i don’t like ). I will be posting more and more stuff as i go along. The main thing i changed was the pose which i’ll show later in the day. All commnents are welcome , thank you and i hope i can make it. Thank god for the extra week (thank you).
