OK, I figured I’d have a go too - so here are my initial sketches!!! I’m generally aiming at the Invoker/Cleric category, with a leaning towards light/dark element artefacts. There are several themes I wanted to mess around with. One is the idea that the character has a temple on their back generating ammunition for a magical cannon of some sort. Another theme is the idea that the character is blind and uses their artefact to see. Generally speaking, I want to come up with a cool looking artefact and focus on some kind of relationship between the artefact and the user. I also like the idea of referencing more contemporary/theatrical magical acts, like the ventriloquist, for the artefact - but it all depends on what will lend itself to a cool model.

very cool idea with the character being a more non-person concept with a carrying creature and a city! :smiley: would be awesome to see finished in 3D! if you haven’t decided I’m voting for such a character! :slight_smile: good luck!

Great sketches you have there!

The first and last sketches really stand out to me. I like that whole “castle/building on top of creaturte” theme you have going there. IMO I’d try to develop those.

thanks for the feedback folks, it really helps - I’ll do some more detailed concepts of the creature/temple combination and post them up after the weekend.

I’m really lovin’ that last guy with the eyeball in a jar. He seems like some sort of evil voodoo badass.

Ok, some here are some further WIP’s I did over the weekend. Bit busy at home, so only time for a couple of sketches. I worked on the “Eyeball Lantern” idea, and developed the Temple on back idea - but I altered the carrier to look more “heroic”. I like the idea of the user praying/meditating to operate the "Temple Cannon"™. The last sketch is kind of the same idea, a rifle that is powered by something a bit like a Buddhist prayer wheel. I want to do a couple more sketches, to work up the original hunchback figure with the temple on their back, and also a couple of ideas about an archer. Then it’s on to some modelling! Should get cracking on the 3d next weekend.
