madshooter: Thanks

It’s all in the eyes… I just wanted a close-up of the eyes, 'cause they can tell so much about the character. I guess they aren’t that important in this particular case, since you won’t see them so much in close-up. The ā€œlightning-eyesā€ is a visual connection to the lightning inside the artifact.

#43

Just a little tweak on the serpent ā€œnoseā€ area.

#44

Did a close-up of the serpent eyes as well. I tried to make a visual connection again between character and spirit. These close-ups also serve as a references for skin details

#45

this is looking really great, looking forward for some 3d

Nice details on the eyes. I was surprsed by farazmobin’s note because I could have sword you were in this as a 2D entry, not 3D. With the amount of detail you’re putting into the painting, you’re approaching it like a concept art entry, which is great. Good luck with the 3D, if that’s what you’re doing!

farazmobin: Thanks  I’ll begin modelling now :wip: Weee…

walrus: Thanks, champ  And yes, this is definitely a 3d entry. I understand that you could get confused, because I’ve been very thorough with my concepts. But that’s the way I like to work, and it helps me get everything in place before the 3d. That said, more details could be added to the 3d model of course
Other artists just make a brief sketch, and then continue in the 3d package with multiple doodles, until they get it right. The down side to this approach is, that the artist could end up making details, that maybe look good but don’t really make sense. I don’t believe tiny Zbrush-details on the armor necessarily make the character.

For this challenge I wrote a brief design document with variuos info of my character, and then I started designing it based on this. This is also time consuming, and I could end up not making the deadline.

very nice concept men! and the history is so creative, I like it! you know, first time I see your thread i thougt… It could be a 2D entry :stuck_out_tongue: waiting to the model…

#49

And now to the 3d!!! :):bounce: Just the basics of the serpent in place. I made the head area a bit bigger and more robust. More to come…

#50

daelon: Thanks  And there you go…

#51

More details added… This is just poly modelling. I plan to add some Mudbox stuff later. And no, I don’t know Zbrush

#52

cool stuff you have here, you really did some nice concepts! i hope you can finish in time with the 3d part, im kinda in hurry too with mine :D…

#53

zbush it’s too easy, only has the worst interface in the world, but not dificult to use…

#54

dandan: Thanks  hurry up…

daelon: I believe you. I actually tried Zbrush once for about 1 1/2 hour. Then I gave up because of the interface. Then I tried Mudbox, and I could begin modelling without reading any documentation or tutorials. I do miss 3d texture painting in Mudbox though

#55

More details. Still only poly modelling. I’m pretty happy with the basic shape now, and it’s actually a bit closer to what I originally envisioned than the concept drawing.

#56

Very nice concept. The summon monster is great. Keep the good work

#57

And a dirty pass through the mud

#58

Nadina: Thanks

#59

Another update  I wanted to bring some more brutality in it. Symbolizing the destructive power and wickedness in the creature.

#60

Monster looks great! In my opinion he need some more agressive face, some aditional wrinkles around his mouth and below eyes. Or maybe big thin teeth. Looking forward for summoner 3d!
