This is Morastadion, a nomad Invoker. His people are isolationists, having turned their back on the world in favor of their pursuit of knowledge and exploration of the unknown through their magic. It is believed that the strict practice of their art and religion will save them from any external threat, so long as they do not dilute their culture or knowledge with that of the outside world.
Morastadion is one of a handful of his kind who disagree with his peoples beliefs. He spends his days wandering the world, absorbing its knowledge, and honing his art for self-defense and enlightenment. His understanding of the threat of the invasion of metal-beings causes him to retreat to a place of meditation. He asks the Void for guidance and awareness, and after 60 days and nights of fasting and heavy rumination he is gifted with the Curricle of Zth.
Zth is the name by which Morastadions people know the Void, and the artifact he receives embodies its nature and power. The Curricle of Zth appears in the form of a cloth or scarf, which has no beginning and no end. Ever changing its shape, it moves as though a living being, and is not limited to any shape or size in material space.
The Curricle has many unearthly powers, the first being that it is composed of the fabric of the void itself. As such it is capable of bending the light for its own purpose, or acting as a bridge through time or space. Some of the ways Morastadion uses it are:
+He can wrap it about himself, and using its ability to bend light, causing himself and the artifact to vanish in normal eyesight.
+He can also expand it in size exponentially, and use it to project mass illusions through for emboldening allies or deterring foes.
+Morastadion can also wrap it about individual foes of nearly any size, and constrict them into nothingness by using it as a gateway to the Void.
+He also uses it to twist space over large areas for spell casting. By projecting his magic through the Curricle, he can cause harm to foes over immense distances without coming within harms way himself. Likewise, he can also use it as a barrier to absorb magical attacks against him.
-Though the artifact suffers no damage from any physical force, it cannot act as an impenetrable shield. It can defend against physical attacks only if it covers a large enough space to draw the attackers weapon or body into it completely.
-The Curricle also cannot act as a gateway for travel, as beings cannot pass into the Void without causing them irreparable harm.

That looks nice. It’s shame that you said it might not be completed. Hope to see more soon.
I hope I can complete this too!
Here is a quick update on the sketch. These is not the final image or values but I wanted to move on to the model…

Pretty interesting work there, I’m really impressed with your poly control and overall design. It reminds me slightly of Digimon for some reason, I’m not sure if that will be a compliment in your eyes or not, but I do mean it in the best possible way.
Thanks for looking! I’m actually an environment artist, so compliments are very appreciated regardless.
This is still rough. I’ll work many of the tri’s out later.

He’s looking good and I’m glad that you have made progress. Looks like you’ll be able to finish it in time. Keep it up!
Two people have said digimon now. It’s a pokemon clone, isn’t it? I went searching for images, but didn’t see anything that resembled this guy. Is there a specific character that he reminds you of? I’m really curious now.
Thanks for the comments!
A quick screencap of only normal maps in the Max viewport -

I haven’t posted any images of the curricle yet because I’m still playing to see the best way to convey it.
Thanks for looking!
Thank you very much!
This is a quick render test. Still very WIP, no spec, unfinished diffuse etc.

Cool! The rig seems to work ery well. Maybe you can try to open a bit out the right arm. Good job so far!
Thank you for the feedback. I moved his arm out a bit more, as well as adjusted his head so his profile and sillowhette were more recognizable. Getting closer…
