DWIII - 3D - herekitty - Lady and the Tiger

#1

Hello all, this is the first time I’ve competed in the Dominance War. I’ve scoped out the various forums, and I figure its time I make my first post.

Name: Lady and the Tiger (well for now, the seperate characters don’t have their own names yet)

Race: Goddess

Magic Type: Holy

Class: Invoker

Artifact Weapon: Chains of time, used to bind foes and stop time itself. They are unending and limitless and can also be used to enslave.

Currently these chains enslave her pet, a powerful tiger who does her dirty work for her.

She doesn’t really need armour, so she wears whatever she wants. That leaves room for me to concentrate on the details of her outfit and gladiator sandals, hopefully with a lot of layering.

I actually have the base mesh done and will post that soon. I’m currently working out some of the zbrush sculpts.

Good luck to everyone!

Okay, here is another update. I’ve been working getting the normal maps to work with the low poly version. I hope to start texturing soon.

As a note, I obviously did not use realistic human proportions. I like to stretch them out.

Here are the basemesh wires:

And the flat shaded screen grabs:

And here are some test renders with very little attention given to the lighting so far:

I will try to post some Z-brush shots before tomorrow. I forgot to cap off the bottoms of the feet, so that area looks funny right now in the image. Don’t worry, I’ve taken care of it and she won’t be footless.

Right now I’m working on the tiger pet.

Please feel free to comment

This will be really impressive I hope the pet is as nice as the main character. I really like the direction you are going with this, her face is coming along really nicely. She reminds me of someone who did model her after or use as reference? I’m interested in seeing where this goes but it’s a really nice start.

Thanks for the comments. Honestly, I started out intending her to look one way, and it ended up looking a little too hard for my taste. She’s supposed to be unattainable, not angry, so I went in a different direction. Here are some of the Z-brush shots. I keep thinking she looks like one actress, then another.

Hey Kristen,

I like a lot the body design on your godess , really cool, and the tattoo is a great touch, for sure looking forward for more updates!! Cheers!!

Thanks for your comment. It is actually a necklace, but it does look like a tattoo half the time. I think the textured version makes that more clear.

Here are some final viewport shots of the normal map. These are the final normal map textures seen on the low-res.

I’ll post images of the tiger and the textures soon. What is left at this point is texturing the tiger, posing and lighting.

Looking forward to finishing.

Those are the images of the tiger. Right now I’m posing and lighting this thing. Here is a start on that:

At this point, I’m actually really happy that I’m going to finish this contest.

So these were the finals, turned in on Saturday:

The final name I decided on was Psuche (pronounced Soo-Kay). It coms from the story of Athena giving a soul to man. Psuche is the soul as a butterfly:

“The creation of mankind. Prometheus is holding a man whom he created; Athena breathes soul into him in the form of a butterfly.”

Psuche’s artifact is the binding chains she carries and uses to control those around her. It can also control time, which explains the sundial they stand on. The roman numeral on her necklace corresponds to the 12 hours of the day, 12 months of the year.

The name for the tiger is Kahn. He stands enslaved by the chains, an unwilling pet. He is used to do her bidding and completes the powerful duo.

Taking on this contest was new for me, and I’m honestly glad I finished it on time. I definitely learned new things and picked up so much inspiration from the others in this forum. Good luck to you all!

-Kristen
