Very nice - I’d almost forgotten that you’d have to through the CGS identifiers on this guy. The prayer flags seem perfect for that.

I think it might help you to try and wrap the flags more on the spear. Not only might it create a better visual as he swings it while in battle, but the spear itself tends to look somewhat narrow and even a little frail compared to the character (an interesting contrast, but with a character made of rock it makes one wonder why he would use the spear at all aside from the necessity created in his story). Also I think the style of the flags work a little better in the previous image - less ragged I mean.
The glyphs look excellent too, though the way they are peppered around the body it might help to have a greater range in their size. I really like how you have that kind of luminecent bleed going on in the legs too. Might be interesting to see that spread out to other parts of the boddy.

Definitely want to see more flags on him though - especially something on the head. Looking fantastic - cannot wait to see the Zbush work!

Well sticking to the story the spear was never meant to be used by a Man of stone. The spear is more a symbolic representation of his binding; a bridge between him and the stones that are now his body. As for the flags, I think they should be a little tattered
just thinking about the age of them
but I will probably wrap the flags around the staff a bit.

Hey everyone here is my final. I’m pretty pleased with it seeing that it is my first character that I have ever done from concept to finish. I wish I could have been more successful with zBrush but I didn’t really set the time I wanted aside to learn it. So unlike all you masters out there I textured like it was 2005 with good ol’ photoshop. Anyway hope I was able to do my part in winning the war. Enjoy!

Beautiful stuff, man. I didn’t know this was your first character from concept to finished, and I wouldn’t have guessed it from seeing the work. You should be pround of this one - I’m sure CG Society will be!

Good job man! The glowing parts look great, and I really like the tears flowing out of his eyes. You probably saved yourself a lot of stress by deciding not to learn Zbrush in 1 day, and the textures look good without a normal map anyways. Great portfolio piece.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I hope to take him into zbrush and at some point to see what Kind of damage I can do. Perhaps later in the year once I get a better knowledge on the inner workings of zbrush. As for now I’m trying to think of what I will do now that its all over :frowning:
