Thanks Jake, You make a lot of valid points. I need to define that light more as a magical lighting. I think i will have to do some vfx for it. And yes I am struggeling a bit to get my character to stand out. it think your right some atmosphere right there might help draw them out. the light is snug against the wall and so are the characters. in fact noneshallpass’s left foot is against the wall so that should say how close they are. It will take fanessing but hopefully i can pull it off

Well, I can comment more, but I don’t have much new to add: Dark brown character in front of dark brown background = hard-to-see character. What about making his brown outfit a slate grey? I also like Jake’s suggection about fogging out the background more. Anything you can do to make the character pop (unless he’s a Stalker and is supposed to blend into his environment to be stealthy?
)
Good luck!
Thanks Walrus. Ya thats the main issue is he blends in too much. Im going through some art styles that i think match mine and seeing how their characters stand out. I think I just need to focus more lighting on my guy and then add some atmosphere behind them. Some people use a lot more black than I do and I wonder if I should employ more to make it more dynamic. We will see. Thanks for the comments!
Wow, I love what you have. Very inspiring! As far as what you mentioned earlier about black, to be honest, I dont think it will be going in a right direction for what you have now. Of course this is only an opinion but with your way of rendering currently, more black would actually flaten it out more instead of bringing it out.
Go darker, to push out that light, but solid black could also be harmful I think.
Thanks Gatlingg.
I took a few days breaks from this to stew and figure out what i wanted to do. i am a little farther now, started adding a lot more effects which i think make it much more dynamic and less boring. I came up with magic for those lights and tried to show that by having the one monster jumping through it on the left. I added nice rubies to his armour. Bright red lighting which shows the power. Comments a re still welcome. Desiding where to go with it again and what needs to be tweaked and fixed. the window at the top sort of bugs me a bit now. I might need to make it larger, taller maybe.

Annnnd bam. The break was good for you! Everyone needs one. =D This is coming along really nice. As far as your window up top, I think its the exit side that has me curious. Is it just a checkpoint watch tower and not a big structure interior-wise?
If anything I think the size is fine, but the placement of the exit window is maybe too centered. It gives the wall/building a thinnish appearance on the outside. Also, maybe atouch of atmospheric light on the interior shadow arc could push the debth more? I mean, there is a beautiful sky with warm lighting hitting that wall over thar. Cheers!
haha thanks gatlingg. yes i had some atmosphere in there at one point but erased it for one reason or another. i think you might be right about it.
They just extended the war 5 more days. This means I am way ahead of schedule and need to figure out how to make the best of that time. I suppose composing more “beasties” into the scene might be a good idea. Any suggestions?
Ok spent some time on it again today. here is the newest. any comments or critiques will still help.

Wow, nice stuff! Somehow he reminds me of Byzantine warrior , hehe. Keep up the good work, mate!
