DWIII - 2D - LaurentiuBontea - ScourgeOfDamnation

#1

Howdy warriors, new reinforcement has come. I joined the CGS army and I’m ready for
battle!!!

Name: Scourge of Damnation
Race: Undead
Class: Invoker
Artifact: Cloak of Darkness
Power: Darkness/Void

Scourge of Damnation

He is a very talented and fierce mage, absolutely devoted to his purpose. He will go to the
end of the worlds in order to manifest his plan. Brought to life by the very creator of the
Ultimate Weapon, he always felt inside that it is his responsability to defeat all rival forces
and to destroy the awakening machines. He will go beyond …

The Cloak of Darkness

The exterior of the cloak is made of highly resistant fabric of unknown origins, which will
protect its master against magic directed at him. The interior of the cloak is made entirely of
dark matter.

How it works

Usually the master will invoke creatures or weapons to come to his aid. These are all made of
dark matter.

Here’s an example - The Birds of Death

At it’s master’s command, the cloak will release the birds of death which are entirely made of
dark matter and smoke. When released, these birds will ruthlessly follow, penetrate and
disintegrate enemies instantaneously, turning them into black dust.

If the dark birds need more speed they will quickly turn into arrows and then penetrate the
enemies, rendering them to dust.

When there’s need to annihilate a larger number of enemies, millions of birds can form a
dense flock which will rise into the skies, then rapidly descend hurling towards the earth. At
the moment of impact millions of death birds will burst horizontally, and an enormous black
mist will take form, shrouding and dissipating everything in their way.

Thanks for reading, here are the roughs:

p.s. : cam tarzior, dar decat deloc …

#3

I like the last one, but don’t forget the tail.

#4

Man, this is nice. I like the idea of he not having legs, and even a face. Something like the “spirit of fear”, got it? I like your sketches, so, I’d like to see more.

ah, these look great! Definitely go for the scythe, that’s one sweet weopon!
I also like the character shape linked to that.
The whole middle row is nice, but could maybe use some crazier shapes added!
Looking forward!

#6

Thanks Claudiu, I’ve been busy on some projects lately but hey, there’s still enough time left, just giddy up

Andrievici, I’m glad you like it man, thanks

Kenzoabeki, that’s a very cool idea, no face, no legs… wicked! My character has a body and face but because these were small drafts I preferred to just put that in shade.
You’ll definitely see more, just stay tuned

Hideyoshi, hey dude, where do I know you from… I think you did some cool stuff over at CA, EOW or IDW can’t recall exactly, it’s a long time since I participated.
I’m glad you like them, I will develop some of them a little more, including the one with the scythe :stuck_out_tongue: As for the crazier shapes, my approach will be more on the realistical side and I want the character to be very believable, so I’m not excluding crazy shapes completely, I’ll just use them moderately. Stay tuned!

#7

You got some pretty cool designs here. I like a bit more the whole of the first row.
Good luck!

#8

6 and 7 your style rules but I,ve seen too many hoods in this contest I suggest you try something more original is just my opinion, good luck

#9

I’m glad you do, Maxter

Gyorkland, it’s not an element that is used only because it looks cool, the cloak is the artifact itself. You can find more info on that in the story above.

#10

Here’s a quick render of the second thumb on the first row.

There’s more to come. There are another three quick renders similar to this that I have to prepare, I’ll post them in a few hours - stay tuned!

#11

Yup, CA.org it is!
I also recognized your nickname from the weekly activities over there!
New update is looking rad! Love all the tiny hanging bits and the general feel of motion! Keep it up, dude!

Damn, I need to get cookin’ with my own entry now, not much time left! o_O

#12

Thanks dude! You’re right, time is flying senseless but I think it’s more than enough left to finish a character. Besides, laying down the concept is the hardest part, painting him is just fun!

#13

Here are the rest of the characters, as promised. Now I’d like you to help me choose
between the four of them. Only one of them will go to the nest step, which is refining the
concept and doing more sketches. Help me decide which, and also, please tell me why,
because I’m open to merging some of the characters, by taking parts from and there. So if
you prefer certain elements or regions that you think would work best, just point them.
Thanks a bunch!

I LOVE the bottom left character the legs are really original when combined with the upper body you have on the character! also like the top right one, but recon that one or two of the others look a little bit "Spawn"esque. Am really feeling the hovering thing goin on though!

#15

Awsome work so far. Keep it up! Multa bafta!

#16

They all look really good, I would go for the first one, lots of details and a great overall shape and anatomy. But I do like the armor of the 3rd one, my tip is to “combine their strength”, giving the anatomy of the first one and some of the armor of the third one.

They all look really good, great work so far, keep it up.

#17

Very Dark, scary, cool. I wouldn’t want these guys over for beers. Keep em comin’

#18

The first one, absolutely…dynamic, imponderable, frightful.

#19

I am not very fond of the centaur concept, I generally don’t like this type of design but that’s just personal preference…
I love those spikey bits on the 2nd dude’s legs and of course the scythe.
Interesting face and feet design (Orang Utan?) on the 3rd!

#20

I like your style.
Good luck Laurentiu !
