DWIII - 2D - Kenzo Abeki - Seahorn

HI folks. This is Seahorn. I heard about the contest about one week ago. Since then, I’ve been doing some sketches, and the first one was the one I really liked. Seahorn comes from the deepest seas, and among his people, his almost a god. This people, known to be weak and fragile as fishes, asked for their gods to send someone who could protect them from the hunters from the lands above. And their gods ansewered their prays sending the ultimate warrior. A harnessed crab-like giant, wich can crush any humanoid, or even monsters bigger than himself. He uses his claws, and as he has claws on his legs, he a great oponent. He is a good fighter on land too, and has a pet called Morea, wich is actually his ride. I’m creating his weapon right now. A two bladed air/lightning sword. Hope you like it. Now, I wonder how should I paint it…

Nice to see you around Kenchan!! I like your concept. Just a question tough… How does he holds his weapon?? Can he do it with those finger-claw?

Gyorkland. Thanx man. It´s my first contest, and I´m really exicted about that. For the sketches, I just used a simple Pentel 0.5, with B graphite.
Do Inferno. The weapone will fit to hiz hand. you’ll see. It’s good to see you!

DoInferno! Good to see you man. I really liked the idea of the lizzard guy. Well, about his weapon. I didn´t work really hard on the sketch yet, but here´s the deal. If you look closer, you will see that the weapon is designd for his race. The fist is designed for one finger on each side, and there are two holes for the other two fingers. I´ll show it better in the next sketches.

Hi my friends. Long time I don’t update this. I’ve been having trouble with my scanner, so, it took me sometime to solve that. Here’s the new sketch for the weapon, and some designs for the head. I’m running to finish everything, and post all the work, hope you like it. PS: These are photos, I’m really sorry, but the others images will be scanned.

i like the proportions of the arms and legs. he looks very powerful. um…3 weeks left you know. get modeling!

I made some changes in the head and tried to design his arms too. These are the results. I’d like to apologize for everybody who’s been seen this. I’m really having trouble with my hardware, and I’m doing my best to post everything here. From now on, I hope I can provide this thread with good images. Thanks a lot. And I really hope you guys like it.

Nice design so far. The third head you posted with the 2 big vertical mandibles is really saying “Predator” to me (the movie, not just that he’s a predator) so I think you should pass on that one. Meanwhile, I find the 2nd head interesting. Seahorn’s body and shoulders are really wide, so I think you could really fit a wide head like the second and it would look fitting. Anyhow, that’s just my opinion, for what it’s worth. Good luck!

walrus, thank you so much for the feedback. About the “predator” head, you’re totally right. After I draw that, I realized that, and tried to do something different, and the wider head came out. I’m preparing the final images right now. Thank you again, and good luck you too.

And here we are. This is (almost) the final version for Seahorn. Yes, he has some kind of glove in his left hand. Yes, his legs resemble corals, there will be time and images to explain. Now I’m going to the final images, and coloring. Wish me luck, lol.

you know what might be3 cool, is if you holowed out the legs… or shins i guess they would be, and make them like shileds so when a blast comes at him he can honker down in his legs like spartins and their shields :smiley:
