Duplicating "freeze" at subdivision 1 technique

#1

Is there a way to duplicate “freeze” at subdivision 1 in selected areas of a model.

  • basically you go to options in Modeler, set division to 1 and then tab yor object in sub-d mode and and then ctrl-d “freeze” the object at that division level, thus giving your model a fairly equal smooth effect.

Problem I like the effect in one area of a model and not in other areas.

I tried the smooth tool but it never get me result like the freeze effectunless someone lnows some magic numbers int he input section.

You could try using Weightmaps and then utilize APS in Layout. DPKit has a tool that lets you export a model from Layout with APS applied.

I can’t help you but I think you just answered a question for me.

I think this is what happens when you open and close a model in Zbrush, without doing anything to it…hmmmm…freeze level 1…

Set Sub-Patch weight map for points (if you are using Sub-Patch), or edge sharpness weight map for edges (if CC) which are on border of selected area, to 100%, so they won’t be folding. Then freeze and join polygons with the rest of object. No need to go to Layout and using APS.
