Drawing - Real person into Comic Char

#1

Does anyone knows good techniques, helps, hints, tips oder whatever how to draw a comic char of a real person?

Creating cartoon versions of people is all about making their distinguishing characteristics obvious, especially in the face.

For example, let’s take a random actor, such as Jean Reno. He’s known for his quite prominent nose, receding hairline, stubbley beard and heavy eyes. As long as you suggest a similar shape to these features in the cartoon version you’ll probably match it pretty well.

However!
I’ve generally found the key to drawing cartoon versions of people is not in how they look per se, but what your impression of them is. If you draw a character while thinking about their personality and how you want them to come across to the viewer, I tend to find appearances matter less.
