Drapery study for class, due tomorrow (wednesday)

edit i realized that this is in the wrong spot, would someone please move this to 2d wip? sorry about that edit

i’m just about finished with this, but my teacher is a very hard grader, so i want to submit this to as harsh a critique as i can get. this is for clothed figure 2 and he will be grading on how clear and well defined and resolved everything is. there needs to be technically accurate fold construction, and no question whatsoever about what is going on anywhere in the drawing (what’s in front of what, which way do folds/bends wrap around, which edges are hard edges, etc)

thanks in advance!

without further ado, here we go:

P.S. the photo is only mostly accurate, as there are subtly tone issues and the texture of the paper is grossly exaggerated.

WIP section or not, this is pretty damn good! I would only say that your really dark areas are a little grainy, but it actually adds to the effect. Great work! :applause:

I agree! It’s a lovely piece of work indeedy. I see subtle highlights- did you use pastel for that? Or is it all 2B/4B pencil?

I gotta agree with the others - that some very good work.
I don’t see how your teacher wouldn’t be happy with that.

thanks for the praise, all…

that grain is enhanced by the photo, i’ve since finished and handed it in and should find out this coming wednesday what i got…

it was done in wolf’s carbon and general’s white charcoal on 20x22 tone paper

here’s a finished shot that i really tried for a better photo (still overly grainy, but better):
