Don't Eat Junkfood!

#1

Lineart, watercolor, and finish of a Dr. Goyle pinup. Dr. Goyle is a character created and owned by Mark Stegbauer (check him out here ). He has a Dr. Goyle mini-series currently coming out through Alpha Dog Publishing.

Anyway, this was a blast to do. Let me know what you think!

Cheers!

I find this image rather confusing. Are they inside of the mouth of the kid she is holding in her hand? What is the pile of junk? Or is it a pile of bodies? Or zombies? What is that target marking on her belly? The hero kind of looks like Hellboy. Is he the doctor?

I have hesitated to comment on this because I’m afraid I’ll take away from the fun you had making it. But at the same time it doesn’t deserve to have no comments at all.

I would like to see more recognizable shapes that I can connect with the title. When I hear the words “junk food” I start thinking about hamburgers, french fries, hot dogs, pizza, soda pop etc. When I hear “doctor”, I think about a man in a white coat and a stethoscope.

I’d recommend that you put fewer things in the image, but spend more time on each one of them. The demon is ok, the queen almost ok. The rest, not so much.

I hope I didn’t disappoint you too much and that you’ll have as much fun with future drawings!

Thank you so much for your thoughts! I appreciate your consideration.

Dr. Goyle is a character created by another artist, Mark Stegbauer, so that design belongs to him. As for the Junkfood Queen, I was thinking much more about the food that “rots your teeth” (as mom used to say) like candy. The zombie army was supposed to have candy heads, like peppermints and tootsie-rolls. Of course this doesn’t take away from any design flaws, but it may shed some light on the thinking.

Thank you again.

Cheers!

How about calling her “Candy Queen”? Quite catchy, eh?

“Don’t eat candy” won’t be a popular tagline though… I get to thinking of a B movie trailer presenter voice:

"Is she sweet? No.

She’s just the Queen of Sweets!

And she will rot away your teeth!

Another Dr. Goyle adventure,
Scourge of the Candy Queen"
