Dog Walk Animation WIP

#1

This is still a WIP, but any critiques would be of great help  This is my first time doing a walk cycle in 3D, I’ve done it a couple times in 2D. Also I did notice after I put it through after effects that the back leg is popping, so any other insight would be nice.

Also is there any way to embed Vimeo videos into these posts? I tried posting the code in between the HTML and it didn’t work :hmm:

Hi, I dont have this special look with 10 yrs experience, but on 1st look his "right-back" leg is a bit odd (its walking 2x faster than him), his ears, eyes, jaw and tail probably are totally still. I usually find dogs doing observation of environment all the time, at least he is not looking like this bored dogs that stare into pavement.

So here is what I’ve worked on since the last one…

From looking carefully at both these WIP’s, your right-back leg still ‘snaps’ when it stretches back to recoil. I think if you watch it a hundred more times with your playback settings set to at least 5/10 fps, you’ll see it a little better. If I’m completely seeing things, you can kick me for it, but from spending so much time trying to fix the snapping on my own walk cycle, I see it everywhere.

Hope this helps any?

Imo it looks better now, play with this leg/legs, does it happen to another one ? If I were you I would move his jaw, tongue and eyes, it should make it more natural.
