do we have to retopology

my question is when i model a basic mesh in maya and import it in zbrush and sculpt a little and back to maya. do i have to retopologize or i get the same quad model with highrez detail like i work in zbrush. (no maps like displacement or normal. just the mesh)

Before re-topology tools(Topogun or Silo’s topology brush), it was necessary to create a clean base mesh before sculpting, but now you can either do a base mesh or perform topology after the sculpt.

Apparently, though, its easier to sculpt first and then do the topology last.
