do they use expressions in this video?

Hello everyone. I am rather new to AE, so here is my question.

Halfway through this video, girls start to fart butterflies. My questions is, how do they animate these butterflies?

I know how to break down and animate a butterfly, but not like on this video, where there is a bunch of them and they have such a natural looking movement.

Do they use expressions for this?

I was thinking about using particles and then link each particle to each butterfly…can that be done? I find particle movement doesnt look like this…

Also…the movment of the cloting when they fart…is that manually done in the video, or is that post production?

The clothing is definitely done live - either with string in a few shots or a blast of air. The butterflies I’m not sure - it might be a combination of sfx and vfx. Either way - tastefully done in my opinion. I mean - who wouldn’t want to fart large flying insects that are colorful and pleasing to the eye? It’s better than what comes out of people’s butts naturally. :smiley:
