Display Issue with Scene Editor

#1

I’ve had a reoccuring, specific issue with LightWave since I upgraded to 9.0 that has not gone away as I’ve installed the subsequent point releases (9.2 and 9.3). Here is now to reproduce it:

Open a scene with a fair ammout of parent-child heirarchy relationships.

Ctrl+F1 to open Scene Editor. In my case it’s Property is already set to Render Options since that’s what I used last.

LMB in your item list and choose “Select all”, then “Expand child items (recursive).” This will fully expand your entire list of items.

Here’s the rub. The first time I do this, the Object Dissolve channels are not corresponding to the correct objects. For example, if I click the Object Dissolve Envelope button for an object called “tire,” the Dissolve channel FCurve that pops up in the Graph Editor won’t be for tire. It might be for “spoiler” or “bumper” or any number of other things except tire.

Once I “Expand child items (recursive),” I usually have to close Scene Editor, then open it again. My list will still be expanded, and all of my Dissolve channels will then align with their proper objects.

Could this be a display issue with my graphics card, or is it LightWave? Is anyone else having this problem? It never did that in 8.5.

Thanks,
Dustin

I have ran into the exact same weirdness with the scene editor. I’m pretty sure it’s something to do with lightwave and not the video card. After a pull on the scroll bar in the middle of the 2 windows this alignment problem seems to correct itself and align. It is still a very annoying problem that shouldn’t be there since it can cause people to make mistakes if they are not aware of it.

Heh, well at least it’s not just me having that issue.

Have you noticed any other specific characteristics of this bug? Perhaps it only happens under specific circumstances? I’m going to submit it as a bug to Newtek and I’d like to have all the infomration on it I can before doing so. Hopefully they’ll be able to reproduce it and track it down.

They did some work on the Scene Editor when they released 9. One of their developers probably just forgot a } or something in his code

Thanks,
Dustin

I’ll take a look at it and see under what circumstances it happens for me. I recall noticing it every once in a while.
