Hey guys,
i’m new to mudbox and i’m having these weird problems with getting a proper
displacement happening inside of maya.
to illustrate my problem. it’s even happening with a basic sphere.
polygon sphere. radius 200 (in the beginning i thought my radi were too low,
so i cranked it up to 200). standard uv layout. export to mudbox.
just did some basic sculpting with 2 subdiv levels for testing.
mudbox mesh:

extract a 32 bit fp tif displacement map. search distance 500.
open&save it in hdrShop to get it into maya.

get a subdiv approximation going in maya. spatial. min subdivs 4,
max 5. length 0.001
plug the displacement map into a new shader. apply it and
that’s what i get:

the faces are not nearly as displaced as in mudbox.
it doesn’t really buldge out.
if anyone could help me on this issue, it’d be very
thankful. i’m kinda wasting hours here without getting anywhere.
