I watched the reel and it’s pretty impressive. I had some problems with sound playback but maybe it’s just my computer. However, I don’t think you will have problems to get a job with your reputation.
I visited your site and it took my some time to figure out how the navigation works, maybe you could highlight those cables more or make the words (3D, inferno…) clickable.

#7

great demoreel!!!
would you tell me what song it is?!

#8

yeah man tell me the song…I have been a fan for years…

I have always wondered what is art of inferno artist and what is power of inferno. I get through your demoreel and all I can say is there was lot of elements, but I can’t say what was created with inferno by you. I know it’s something like combustion and After Effects so you get elements and your job is combine them so thay looks ok…

Maybe some kind of breakedown would be nice. Sorry, I think it because I’m CG artist and know you get lots of things ready on your desk…which still doesn’t mean job is already done.

Any how don’t get me wrong, your demoreel was nice and I hope you continue same way and more

By the way, song was the crystal method, born too slow.

yes-- Inferno is not really made for creating elements, but for compositing them together. It’s Combustion’s biggest brother-- a 3d compositing system with particles, but is much more interactive, includes many more keyers and 3d tracking, 3d particles, the color warper, etc… Basically, it’s the Ferrari of compositing.

amazing reel, i like the style very much!

That was a nice expalnation on how is the work process on inferno, buttachunk! I’d like to add just a little more details concerning the creation of elements. Inferno (and Flame, the middle brother) has a 2D Paint module that’s just like Photoshop, and the already mentioned Particle Sistem, that even though it looks a bit rudimentar, when combined with the whole set of 2D posibilities becomes a powerful tool!
And last but not least important, native 3D camera and environment and the software’s ability to import and animate/texture/render a 3D model inside a 2D layered composition, wich is a quite special way to render simpler models, once you have the possibility to treat your final render as a 2D composition instead of a common 3D render. Most of the 3D you see in my demo-reel has been made like that - like the green words for instance.
The Mustang versus motorbike are template models and the explosion, behind them is made by Inferno generated Particles, as well as the whole scene camera.
Hope that brought a little light to the dark world of compositing layers toghether…remember that fear leads to the dark side! Guess the name Inferno does n’t helps!
Thanx on the kind comments

Superb work…you are a master of inferno it seems.
Is Inferno better than flame too??

#14

Well, to begin with, thank you, but I think that master is a bit too strong for me! A master is a teacher, and we’re just craftsmen on this duty, ok?
Now, what matters: discreet’s compositing sistems> Flint - (PC - linux); Flame (Silicon Graphics’ Octane) and Inferno (on Silicon’s Onyx) each runs on different platforms but they are all the same sofware. Combustion is the one that’s different because it is a “Software Only” solution, not atached to a platform.
