Discoloration in CS3

#1

I’ve really tried looking into everything on my machine to figure this out but no dice. When I work on something in PS now, all my grays become more brown and the other way around. If I just save it as a .PSD and take it in to be printed, the color will come out fine. But if I save it to my machine the color gets messed up. The same way if I open a file; the color gets messed up. All more desaturated colors get affected as well. Anything on this would help me out so much. I wanna continue working on stuff but it’s kinda disheartening.

Here’s a screen shot of what I’m dealing with.

That’s pretty crazy. On first glance I would say your color calibration settings could be the culprit. Have you created any color profiles for this monitor lately? Have you messed around at all with any profile settings?

Either way, I would try to set up a new monitor calibration profile using Adobe Gamma. It should be in your Control Panel, and should walk you through the process. Let us know how that works.

Thanks for your reply. I think Adobe Gamma was inadvertently deleted at some point and I hear it doesn’t come with CS3. I haven’t messed with any profiles or anything. A friend suggested that Adobe has a tool that removes everything Adobe on my machine and just installing everything again. But I don’t know if that’ll fix the problem. I looked in Control Panel, then under the Common Files where it’s supposedly hidden. I don’t know if I can download Adobe Gamma from somewhere or something. But I’m pretty sure it is Gamma. I don’t have issues in Painter.

Thanks again.

Have you tried this tip to reset Photoshop preferences? I had to try it twice before it actually worked for me.

Yeah, a handful of times, heh.
