Hi Mike,
Yes there are
I don’t see often video games companies using OpenGL, most of them are using DirectX in a game engine such as Unreal or Renderware, NetImmerse… Well, as far as I know.
Regards,
Interesting. My intent is to use DirectX in a application that is used in the healthcare industry.
interesting project, using directx for a healthcare application. what sort of product, if you don’t mind my asking? just curious. */mike
Hopefully none of the competitors are lurking here. Its for dispensing of medicine - nurses use it.
Hi,
I program using DirectX, DirectX 9 currently. If you have any
‘direct’ questions, please feel free to mail me. I may or may
not have solutions to your questions, or try some bulletin
board links e.g. Programmer’s Heaven. Occasionally you’ll
find what you need there.
Mike,
You should also think about using Macromedia Director or Virtools which both can use Direct X and could be easier and faster to help you reach your goals than starting from scratch with Direct X… Just a thought…
Regards,
Hello
I’m also a direct-programmer
You can ask me too…
Feel free to contact me over MSN or mail.
Ahm- But…
Games using the QuakeIII Engine, or FarCry( CryEngine ) also supports OpenGL1.2/5 interfaces… Not everything is direct
Cheers.

Glad to see there are people willing to help.
So far I’ve been able to draw a small plane with a rotate triangle above it. Using the mouse I can rotate that scene. Next step is to be able to create shadows. I know that is not an easy thing to do. Eventually my plan is to use gMax to generate models and import them using DirectX into my application and display them. Any suggestions for shadows? Any resources?
Mike
for shadows ?
Thats easy ? First try to program non-volumetric stencil shadows…
There are a lot of tutorials you can find about that.
