Position: Digital Modeler (Digital Features)

Department: Lucasfilm Animation (U.S.)

Position Summary:

The Digital Modeler’s primary responsibility is to create three-dimensional computer-generated characters for Digital Features.

Primary Responsibilities:

[li]Determine various design solutions and appropriate methods for modeling characters.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Create complex 3D model geometry of terrain, architecture, characters, and objects to be painted, animated, and used in production.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Create and maintain facial animation blend shape libraries.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Solve art pipeline issues efficiently by researching, identifying, and implementing design solutions designed to streamline the art process and enhance productivity within the studio.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Work with other department artists to evaluate the look of computer graphic elements to determine the visual consistency required.
[/li][/ul]Education, Experience and Skills:
[ul]
[li]Bachelor’s degree or equivalent degree in computer science, computer visualization, or computer animation required.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]At least 3 years work experience required in 3D CG for digital animation, or visual effects film.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Strong communication skills required.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]A strong understanding and knowledge of human and animal anatomy is required.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Proficiency with LINUX/UNIX is required.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]Expertise with Maya and/or other high-end animation software is required. Zbrush experience desired.
[/li][/ul]
[ul]
[li]A reel demonstrating CG character modeling including wireframes, and a traditional portfolio of life drawings, paintings, and or/figure sculpture required.
