Difference Object with several flying Parts

#1

A short question:
If I model Hardsurface Meshes like some Weapons for Games, does it make a difference when I create the GameObject with seperated Faces.
I mean: You can create an Object, But it resists out of two bunches of Faces, which are not connected. Or do all faces have to be connected in one Object?
Ans if thats so, why is that?

In my Case its the Weapon hull, which is Cube like, and then I have a Scope which is Cylindric. should i connect them to one Mesh or leave them seperately? Is there effect on Normal or Ambient Occlusion Maps?

You can keep them separate if that’s more convenient for you. It shouldn’t be a problem for normals baking or other reasons.
