Did Maya change this?

I’ll create a line of joints and then try to use a straight curve to align the joints.

I thought you were able to do this by holding down d+c, but it appears I’m incapable of doing this in 2012.

Thanks,
Alex

Make sure you don’t already have curve snapping enabled, if you do then using the shortcut keys will simply toggle it off. If curve snapping isn’t enabled already and you still aren’t getting the desired results try moving the joint while toggling curve snapping on and off using the shortcut keys. It takes a few tries sometimes before the snapping will stick in my experience.

or you could just select the curve hold Ctrl+RMB and select “Cluster” and then point snap each joint to the newly created cluster. This will only really work well if you’re using a linear curve and that curve has the same number of control vertices as you have joints. Just delete the clusters after you’re done.

Using the curve as a motion path and adding each joint will work also, just break the connection going into the U Value in the motionPath input for each joint. Reposition the joints how you see fit by dialing the U Value up or down.
