Diablo 3 cinematic Black Soulstone workflow ?

Hi everyone, i am new to Maya, and i just saw this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-gNsbL6BmA.

In this video Blizzard show some of the process they went through the making of Diablo 3 Black Soulstone. After watching that, it left me a confuse workflow :eek:

First i saw that they sculpt those monster in Zbrush with very high-res model, then why in the animation process they use lowpoly one to animated ?

So my question is how did they apply those animated data from the low poly model to the high poly. Can we do that in Maya ? Is there a tutorials for that ?
