Dell Inspiron 5150 & Modo

#1

Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone’s got the same laptop as me ( Dell inspiron 5150 ), and running modo?

I’ve updated to the latest drivers provided on the dell site , See below:
[nVidia GeForce FX Go5200, v.6.14.10.6610, A07](http://support.ap.dell.com/apjsite/downloads/format.aspx?SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_5150&category=6&os=WW1 &osl=EN&devid=5008&releaseid=R84389) Release Date: 20/09/2004 Description: Nvidia GeForce FX Go5200 Video Driver.

Seems to be the 66.10 drivers and not the 66.81 drivers for the desktop version of the geforcefx Go5200’s. I’ve tried installing the drivers 66.81 for the desktop but they don’t work for the laptop, so i’m stuck with these drivers. Vertex arrays are working fine in Modo tho under these drivers.

I’ve been getting crashes for no reason at all… mostly on slightly denser models. Does anyone with a Dell have any similar problems?

Thanks,

mark S

All nvidia drivers has support for mobile chips, but they cut .inf files so you cant install it. You can go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ to download drivers with this .inf file activated to get compatibility with mobile chips.

hi dude,

on the laptop driver site, it says that changing the inf could totally bugger your system and warranty. Is that true? I mean it’s just a software driver right? it ain’t no bios or anything that can permanently screw up your system…?

hey Mark,

got a 5150 as well

What I did was grab the latest driver from NVidia’s site, download and install it, though it didnt install the driver, just actually extracted everything to a nvidia folder. then I went tot he display property panel, and told it to update teh driver and pointed it to that folder that it extracted to.

everything worked just fine.

I think that there is no problem … i have a 8500 Inspiron with latest drivers working without problems.

Hey Todd,

Thanks for the tip. Thanks to the rest of you guys too. I installed 66.93 and directed windows to look manually for the driver inf file and it works a treat. Modo is stable as hell now.

How’s things going for you anyway Todd? I haven’t seen you on ICQ for a long time
Still at sony?

Regards,
