Hello, I am just getting garbage when trying to use Playblast. It works on other files just not a certain one that I have 6 months into. I have deleted the Maya prefs and restored the program but that didn’t fix it. I even made a copy of the file, removed all textures and objects, still get garbage. Do files have preferences that are separate from Maya itself? And can they be deleted? Thanks.
Delete individual file preferences?
Here is an example.

First thing to check is your camera’s clipping planes. Not too close, nor too far is the key
After that there’s a node called sceneDescription-something, and getting rid of that, saving opening again, usually solves a bunch of weird behaviour.
Good luck.

Thanks Risto but I couldn’t find anything on sceneDescription in the file or in the help files or online. -Derryl
If you check off the “Show DAG - objects only” and then show
“Auxiliary nodes”, you can find the default scene - nodes.

Thanks I tried as you suggested, I believe the file you meant was ‘sceneConfigurationScriptNode’. I deleted it but I still got the garbage renders when using Playblast.
Think I may have it figured out though. I imported the file into a blank scene and saw that one of my objects had a seriously screwed up texture/UV. I deleted it and Playblast worked ok. Thanks for your help. -Derryl
Yep, that’s what I meant.
Anyhow the ancient ‘import whole shebang to a fertile soil’ seemed to work so there you go.
It’s all maya magic
