Deformation Problem

Hi guys, I’ve been having hard time to deform a face muscle that i made in Maya 6. I selected the object and added a sculpt deformer, and also I added a texute which is a black and white lines in order to give the muscle deformation. When i apply it, I don’t get the right deformation that i want. The way that i want it to come up with lines deformation to looklike a muscle, but it’s not for some setting that i’m missing. (In 3D studio MX you can apply the texture as cylender, box, or some other shapes, but i can’t figure that out in Maya, and i think it might me the reason. Do you guys?)
(If any more information is needed, i’m ready to do so.)
