Dead Girl

I have my new desktop so I can work hard digitally now! =D

Recently, I sketched a lot of poses and I started a new painting some hours ago.

Why aren’t we seeing the effects from the bright light in the background in the whole scene?

You need to study lighting. I’ve noticed in your other images that you are missing some critical knowledge when it comes to lighting.

This is an excellent source to start with: http://www.itchy-animation.co.uk/light.htm

Thank you very much for the link Lunatique, I’ll read that and practice.

Is that supposed to be water on the floor?

You need to study how things really look. Find proper references of stone, wood, water…etc. Don’t try to fake anything because you don’t have the proper knowledge/experience to fake anything that looks credible.

That diagonal beam disrupts the clarity of her figure’s contour. Compositionally it just doesn’t help to have it placed there.

The lighting is also a bit convoluted. I’m seeing a secondary ambient light coming from our (the viewer) side, but what exactly is that lighting? The Moon? And why does it look splotchy/patchy instead of consistent?

The figure isn’t convincing. If she’s indeed dead or passed out, she would not be able to keep one leg bent like that–it just isn’t logical. She would just drape over that rock like a rag-doll.

Also, what is the narrative here? What is the premise? Why should the audience care? As the creative vision behind this image, did you do all you could to make the audience care about this narrative/premise/character?

Firstly, thank you for your critic Lunatique.

I need to study lighting, I made a lot of mistakes. I tried to make a painting without references but finally, I’m not very satisfied of the result.

The white light come from the moon.

The history of this painting is a bit simple.

She wanted to protect her village from a very dangerous creature but when she killed this one, she died.

The yellow light come from the fire in the other cave, and stars are a mysterious source came to take the girl’s spirit to the paradise for her courage.

Painting updated !

Elenia is an adventurous woman who killed a very bad creature hidden in a mysterious cave but she died with it. She was the friend of the white fairies.
Fairies have no reflect of themselves when they are sad. Because of the Elenia’s death, they are unprotected against back fairies with violet eyes waiting the good moment to destroy these beautiful and innocent white fairies.
