Deep Exploration is truly a fantastic tool for the engineering and manufacturing industry by essentially using the visuals sourced from CAD/CAM to manage the entire product lifecycle ERP, Support etc. Its like the Star Trek way of managing a complex object such as a Learjet, where all the line-art becomes data objects whereby clicking an object such as a panel around a window reveals its part number, or even trigger animations to show engineers how to take the window out.
What is also cool with DE is that has the ability to make objects photorealistic using the included HDR renderer, and now you dont have to be a guru to use it. Customers want to see what the product will really look like so while simplex vertex shaders etc are ok, ray traced images are the best, but the best takes time
.lots of it.
This is where the GreenButton comes in, now available with 6.3 as a separate plugin. The GreenButton allows those wanting to do photorealistic images or animations a super-fast way of rendering the output. Basically, the computer crushing tasks of photo realism can now be securely sent to GreenButtons private cloud for rapid processing. We are seeing what would be days of work on your machine, now down to hours - but its not just the speed thats of benefit, its the fact that its NOT running on your machine at all! This means that you can submit the job to the cloud, produce stunning work and carry on doing other tasks while the power of the GreenButton does the grunt work.
We have just released support for Deep Exploration 6.3 and the GreenButton plugin will actually be shipped as part of 6.5 when it is released.
Our plugin for Deep Exploration also comes with our new Job Prediction technology. Our Job Prediction technology runs a small sample of the render job on the users PC and then calculates several price offerings for the user to choose from. We think this technology is exciting for our users as they can choose the time frame they want their job completed in and know exactly how much it is going to cost them.
Sean Carnell (www.seancarnelldesign.com) an experienced graphic artist has been trying out the GreenButton with Deep Exploration and has been amazed with the results. His Deep Exploration project with an original resolution of 5039 x 2834 took 36 hours on his i7 Quad Core and only 56 minutes on GreenButton.
Sean is also excited that not only can he get the results of his render job in a fraction of the time it use to take but its also means his machines are now freed up for other work. He used to have to leave his computers running for days to finish a job but now he can have it within the hour.
