I have a question about darkening cracks when painting in Substance Designer. In Z-Brush, I use the mask cavity function and paint the cracks in the sculpt to bring out the detail in the color map. I’m wondering what are some ways to approach this in Substance Painter? I attached an image of one of my Z-Brush sculpts I’m messing around with trying to get this effect. I want to darken the cracks so you can see the detail in the diffuse map. Thanks for any info and here is the image…
Darkening cracks in Substance Designer to bring out the details

I think that what you’re looking for is an Ambient Occlusion map to catch the deeper shadows in those cracks. A dirt map, often used in VRay, is similar, but works to slightly different effect. Either way, I think that an AO map is probably what you’re after. Just make sure to have your map size sufficiently large enough otherwise you won’t see much effect. You may also have to (or want to) tweak the map in Photoshop to enhance the effect.
